A Valentine’s Day Prayer for the Single, Dating, or Married Woman

I’m not far off from believing that Valentine’s Day was a made-up holiday for card companies to make more money (I still like to have fun with it though). But I also believe that each day is an opportunity to come before our Savior and pray about the things on our heart. So why not on this emotional holiday? I’ve taken the time to write out a Valentine’s Day prayer for all you singles ladies, those dating, and those married. I don’t know your specific situation, but God does. I want these prayers to be filled with words that point to our God rather than ourselves. So take a moment to read over the prayer that fits your situation and allow those words to be lifted up to God.

A Valentine’s Day Prayer for the Single Proverbs 31 Woman

Dear Heavenly Father,

This holiday is a blunt reminder of the fact that I’m still single. I see others around me getting gifts and flowers from those who love them. And frankly, it hurts. I can’t help but want to be in their shoes. But Lord, I want to be content with where You have placed me in this season of life. I don’t know why I remain single, but I choose to trust in You. I choose to wait patiently to see who You may have planned for me.

Lord, it is my heart’s desire that one day I be married. I yearn to have a godly man who loves me unlike anyone else. So I pray that You hear my desire, and that one day in Your perfect timing, You will graciously bring me someone. But until then, help me to not focus on what I don’t have, but to focus on what You have given me and to serve you as best I can in my singleness. Change my heart to view my singleness not as a bad thing, but as a blessing. I thank you that You are my Rock, my Refuge, and my Strength. May I forever rest in these assurances of You, but especially today.

In Jesus’ precious name I pray all these things, amen.

A Valentine’s Day Prayer for the Dating Proverbs 31 Woman

Dear Heavenly Father,

My heart leaps for joy as I finally have someone to celebrate this holiday with. But before the festivities and excitement continues, I want to pray for a couple things. First, help me to keep my eyes focused on You. In a world that pushes dating couples to cross certain physical boundaries, it’s easy to be tempted to do things You don’t want us to do. I pray that both my boyfriend and myself will stay pure as the temptation may be heightened today, but help us to be wise in our interactions with each other. Father, I want to remain pure for You as You call me to.

Second, help me not to rush things. It is my heart’s desire to marry this man. But I pray that I would wait on Your perfect timing for that moment to come. I choose to trust Your plan for us. And as Your plan unfolds, help us have the courage to walk through the open doors You provide and to be okay with the closed doors You’ll allow.

Lord, thank you for blessing me with this man. You are a God who gives me plenty when I deserve nothing. May today be a day that glorifies You in our actions and words together.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

A Valentine’s Day Prayer for the Married Proverbs 31 Woman

Dear Heavenly Father,

Though today is another day to show my love for my husband, I pray that it will be a day that we can spend some good quality time sharing our love together. Life gets so busy that at times I feel like we’ve placed our love and our relationship on the back burner. Lord, You have given me this man to love for as long as we live. In that comes responsibility, but also great blessings. It’s a chance for me to serve You by serving him. And it’s my chance to be that Proverbs 31 woman for him; an excellent wife who’s husband’s heart trusts in her because she fears You.

Today, I pray that You will allow us to be reminded of what brought us together in the first place: You. Help us to focus our eyes on You and to continue to keep you at the foundation of our marriage. I also pray that we would remember the things we love about each other rather than dwelling on the things that drive us nuts. Help us to be patient and kind, not arrogant or rude, to not insist on our own way, but to be willing to sacrifice our desires for the other’s. Help us to bear all things, believe all things, hope in all things, and endure all things together.

I thank You so much for this amazing man. You have brought me just the man I needed so that I may glorify You, grow in You, and help him to grow in You as well. Thank you for giving me the responsibility to take care of him, to love him, submit to him, and be kind to him. Lord, You are our Restorer. Help restore the things in our relationship that need restoring. Lord, You are faithful and steadfast in love. Help me to follow Your example in that towards my husband, not just today but every day.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
