How do essential oils play a role in my walk with Christ??
You don't have to use essential oils to be a faithful follower of Jesus Christ:)
Essential oils are another great way to understand how God provides for us. In Genesis, before the fall of man, we see that God designed plants for the use of man (and animals). Genesis 1:29 says, "And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food." (ESV). He gave us those plants! And though we use them mainly for food, it is amazing to see that they are more than just food to our stomach. God made them as sources of healing and wellness for us, even as we go about our lives in a sinful world where death reigns.
Essential oils are a reminder for me that God cares. Even after we sinned against Him, even after we continue to disobey Him, He still provides healing and wellness for us. Isn't that amazing???
There are some essential oils, like frankincense and myrrh (sound familiar??) that are scientifically proven to help our minds focus on the Lord. They are called "biblical oils" or "spiritual oils." Even in a world where many unbelievers use oils, they are being exposed to God through His creation, whether they know it or not.
For me personally, essential oils have inspired in me a desire to share with those who are hurting physically, emotionally, or even spiritually. I want people to know how we can use God's creation/blessings in order to alleviate and ease the things we are experiencing. Sharing oils with those who need it, or even simply want them, help me to grow into the Proverbs 31 woman that I desire to be. A woman who fears the Lord and who is attentive to the needs of others (Proverbs 31:20). A woman who provides well for her family and those around her (31:15). And a woman who looks well to the ways of her household and those around her (31:27).
So though essential oils are not a necessary part to our walk with Christ, they are a great tool to bring us closer to Him and to those He has placed around us.
